This certificate program is designed to help you fast track your advising and business-building skills that are necessary to launch a successful financial planning career.

This unique program was developed by College for Financial Planning faculty and professionals with more than 150 years of combined industry experience. You’ll learn the fundamentals of creating a business plan, recognizing your market niche, creating your branding and professional image, identifying prospective clients, building a team of professionals to support your practice, and engaging in professional development. The program also addresses how to effectively communicate with prospects and clients, as well as understanding the psychology that influences client decision-making.

Delivered 100% online, the self-study program covers the following topics:

  • Developing a Business Plan for Your Practice
  • Marketing Your Practice
  • Managing Your Practice
  • Growing Your Practice
  • Communicating with Clients During the Financial Planning Process
  • Understanding Client Psychology

You’ll have access to the online resources necessary to plan for, develop, and manage your practice, and confidently communicate with your clients. Complete your self-study program as it fits into your schedule.

Designation Program + Financial Advising Accelerator 

At the time you enroll in one of three eligible early career designation programs, you also have the option to enroll in the College’s Financial Advising Accelerator certificate program at a reduced tuition ($200).

The Financial Advising Accelerator certificate program is designed for financial advisors who are new to the industry or in the early stages of their financial advising career. This self-study program is an ideal complement to early career professional designation and licensing programs through its focus on the practical skills to plan for, develop, and manage your practice, and confidently engage with clients. 

No. The Financial Advising Accelerator program is a certificate program, whereby a certificate of completion is issued upon successful program completion. The program does not award a professional certification (i.e., a credential that demonstrates the holder's specialized knowledge, skills, and experience). The certificate cannot be applied to the completion of any education required for professional certification.

Students have 120 days from the date they are provided online access to complete the course (including testing and passing the final exam). Students will receive online access immediately after they enroll.

If you enroll in a designation program (AAMS®, FPQP®, or WMSSM) and Financial Advising Accelerator as a package, you will have 120 days to complete the Financial Advising Accelerator certificate program first. After 120 days of access or at the conclusion of Financial Advising Accelerator if you complete it prior to your 120 days of access, you will continue your professional development through the designation program you enrolled in and have 120 days to complete that program.
The final exam for the Financial Advising Accelerator certificate program contains 50 questions. 

Students have a maximum of two attempts to pass the Final Exam.
A passing score on the final exam is a score of 70% or higher. The grade earned on the final exam reflects your overall grade for the program.

The Financial Advising Accelerator program is a standalone certificate program, whereby a certificate of completion is issued upon successful program completion.
